Some Good Local Hip Hop
Here's a nice little video from local emcee, Wagner, featuring some tight rhymes and good shots of our fair city. Not to mention some sharp headwear.

Apologies
As you have probably noticed, we have been slacking pretty bad with updated content on the blog. I recently had a baby and several of the people who helped with C.O.T. business either moved away or started new jobs that left too little time to commit to our cause. In addition I have elected to spend my extra time working on my creative outlet, The C.O.T. merchandise, as opposed to sharing and promoting the creative endeavors of others (I know, I am selfish).
That being said, The C.O.T. blog is not done, just in a transition mode. If you have any ideas or are interested in being a part of that transition, please shoot me an email at thecotboise@gmail.com. Also if you are a band coming through town or a local artist looking for some promo, continue to contact us if you like, but please don't be upset if we aren't able to work with you at this time.
Thanks for your support and patience,
-Streeter

Treefort 2014 Recap
So a third Treefort Music Fest has come and gone and I believe I am just now fully recovered. My wife and I just had a baby so I had to sneak away as much as I could to see some of the 4 trillion bands that perform over the 4+ days. I managed to catch quite a bit and still stay out of the doghouse thanks in part to the great organization and infrastructure the festival has. From my point of view, Treefort is here to stay and is something that is truly great for this city. That being said I do have three ideas that could improve the festival in the future:
1. Above the big sections of port-a-potties, post signs that say "PeeFort."
2. Have people on the corners giving foot massages (My dogs were barking after day one, even in my most comfy shoes).
3. Make one day (maybe like Saturday) a unofficial themed dress-up day. I'm envisioning like a crazy thrift shop theme where anything goes. This could be partnered with that Community Closet thrift shop that has been there the last two years, so anybody who doesn't get the memo can pick up some gold cowboy boots and a fur vest.
Treefort peeps or anybody else, feel free to steal these ideas, because I think with these additions Treefort would be complete.
While out and about I captured some random videos with my iPhone and edited them together (an app did most of the work). These videos can be seen below. We also have our Instagram pics embedded above along with the official hashtag #treefort2014 if you want to see the shots we took as well as many others. Can't wait til #treefort2015.

The C.O.T. Treefort 2014 Spotify Playlist
One of our favorite parts about Boise's Treefort Music Fest is how it tunes us in to so much great music we may not have had the pleasure of hearing before. Not only do we get to see a butt-load of great live music, but we are left with a bunch of new favorite bands and songs. Like last year, we want to help you get the jump on who you want to see at year three of Treefort. Any TMF band on Spotify that has been announced so far is on our Treefort 2014 C.O.T. playlist.

War Hoarse - A Halloween Treat For Your Ears
Just in time for All Hallow's Eve, Mark Beaver (one of the original founders of this very website) has released a demo, concept album full of spooky scary tunes under the moniker "War Hoarse"
The inspiration and many of the samples of the album come from "kitschy, once-a-year Halloween jams of 50's and 60's surf and garage rock bands," accompanied by Beaver's "hoarse" growling vocals
So tonight while you await a pack of candy-craving pre-teens to come to your door. Throw on War Hoarse to set the Halloween mood.

Listen: Magic Sword - Debut Album
The mysterious Magic Sword, whose live show has been making a splash around town, has just posted it's debut album on apesontape.com via Soundcloud. Sounds like a physical album is due out next week that will include a comic book. Magic Sword's live show has quickly become a must see and you can check out them out at the El Korah Shrine on October 18th for the release show. Artwork for the comic book was provided by local illustrator Shay Plummer.
