Leezy Soprano

Ran into these cats while taking some pics downtown at Freak Alley.  Sounds like they are playing The Red Room tonight.  Look for more Freak Alley pics soon.

Mystery Band Tonight @ The Reef

If you came by our tent Sunday afternoon at Treefort, you may have had your socks rocked off by a four piece band temporarily going by the moniker "Iron Mike."  As sweet as we think that name was, they have recently changed band names.  Tonight they will be playing at The Reef where they will be unveiling there new name along with a lot of new material.  Other uber-talented musician James Orr will be opening up around 10pm, we believe it is a $5 cover (pretty standard for Reef shows).  The band formerly known as Iron Mike is incredibly talented and if they do get big someday under this new name, you can say "I was at (insert new name)'s first show."

St. Paddy's Day...The Second Biggest Holiday on 3/17

Saturday is one of our favorite holidays...National Corndog Day!  Corndog day is a celebration of one of the world's greatest meats-on-a-stick.  Get together with friends and enjoy March Madness with some corndogs, tater tots, and some PBR and enjoy the holidays.  Your goal should be a "triple-double," which is 10 dogs, 10 units of 10 tater tots (100 total), and 10 PBRs (or a domestic brew of your choosing).  It's too late to get your official NCD party pack, but not to late to celebrate.  You will be stuffed yet satisfied.

Tracks of the Week

Every Sunday of every week The C.O.T. will be posting a pair of local tracks that we think you need to hear.  They may be new, they may be older, but either way they are going to be awesome!
This weeks tracks come from out of state, but from two artists who grew up here in Idaho.  The first is from Boise-native Eric Ingersoll and his band Night Genes, currently based out of SF.  From what we hear, Ingersoll will soon be moving to London.  The next track comes from Seatown from the recently released E.P. "Ocean Howell," by emcee La (Language Arts), featuring filthy beats produced by McCall, ID product "Olee," (Alec Olavarria*).  Both artists are childhood friends and still keep close ties to Idaho and The City of Trees.

*Al Pal, sorry if this is spelled wrong.

Food Truck Rally!!!

It's that time of the month again!  No, not that time of the month silly, it's FOOD TRUCK RALLY time!  Boise's best food trucks all in one place, plus a beer garden provided by Payette Brewing Co.  This month's rally will take place Friday, March 9th from 5 to 9pm at 4th and Grove in downtown Boise.  The C.O.T. presents music from Steve Meyers.  In addition, we will also have merch available including T-shirts for $15, Crew-neck sweatshirts for $18, beanies for $12, and canvas prints for $9.  The weather forecast shows 63 and sunny with a 0% chance of precipitation!  Great food, great beer, great music... need we say more?  Hit up the Rally's Facebook page for more details.

Big Thanks

Before we forget, we wanted thank a few people for their contribution to the Art & Ale event that we put on, particularly in reference to the beautiful axe (on the left) that was auctioned off for charity.  The guitar was donated by local musician, guitar aficionado, and friend of the C.O.T., Ryan Emry.  Emry had already purchased the guitar to help a friend low on cash, then he turned around and donated it to a good cause, with all of the money going to the charity.  Emry teamed up with his friend, artist Emily Konkol, who sanded down the guitar and added her own artistic touch to create a one-of-a-kind instrument.  Many bid on the guitar at the event, but when all was said and done, the highest bid went to Boise-native, Keaton Matlock (pictured below in the black beanie).  We want to give big thanks to Keaton for his support.  Overall the event raised over $150 for the Treasure Valley Institute for Children's Art.  Again, we thank these good people so much for their donations.

Finally, we would also like to thank Doyle's Broadway Music, who graciously helped fix/tune up the donated guitar, free of charge.  Why would you go to Guitar Center when you have such a wonderful, family-owned local music shop right on Broadway.  If you want to buy a new instrument or need one repaired, think local, and head down to Doyle's.

Tracks of the Week

Every Sunday of every week The C.O.T. will be posting a pair of local tracks that we think you need to hear.  They may be new, they may be older, but either way they are going to be awesome!  This week we happy to share two tracks from a pair of childhood friends who have taken their talents outside of the Gem State, though still keep close ties to The City of Trees.  The first track is from Night Genes off of their new album "Like The Blood."  Songs from the mind of Boise's own Eric Ingersol, who has spent the last few years in the Bay Area and from what we hear, will soon be moving to London.  The second comes from Seatown off of the new E.P. "Ocean Howell," by emcee La (Language Arts) produced by McCall, ID product Alec Olavarria* aka "Olee."  Enjoy and have a good week y'all.

*Not sure about the spelling on this...sorry Al Pal.
